Thursday night, several dozen civic leaders, residents and elected officials kicked off a planning process that will gather ideas for building a creative economy in the Albemarle and develop ways to bring those ideas to fruition.

The initiative is focused first on Pasquotank, Camden, Currituck and Gates counties, but is expected eventually to include the whole “Inner Banks” region around the sounds of northeastern North Carolina.
